The Pekan Story

Fishing Day 1
20/8/2012

After a few hours of rest, everyone is awake at 0530 in the morning to prepare our breakfast, some have coffee and some cup noodles and some still dreaming.
During Hari Raya festive season, no restaurant is business during this time.

Some shot of gears that we'll used:
Notice what? Almost same rod we are using.
Eupro Salty Fighter, Shino Amberjack, Zerek Tamer.
Light Jig gears:
Shimano ELF, Daiwa Exceler, Ryobi Zester, Abu Garcia Soron SX.

Medium Jig gears:
Daiwa Caldia 4000, Daiwa Morethan Branzino 3000, Daiwa Seagate 4500.

Conventional gears:
Daiwa Saltist, Daiwa Saltiga Z30.

 Meet our boatman, Uncle Chan.

And here we go:
Seasick captain.
Gaya mesti ada, tapi ikan tak ada.

No any big fish catch on our light jig session.
So we decided to change the spot to jig some squids.
 Becarefull of the ink.

Nothing else better than ever.
Tasting the fresh squid in the sashimi way.
We took the smaller to served 3 person as our lunch. Uncle Chan don't take raw food and Captain is sleeping.
Our sushi chef, Ben is complaining cutting the squid make him felt seasick...
Changing chef.
Yeah~
Fresh Ika Sashimi with Japanese soy sauce & Wasabi.
I swear to god. You gonna love it man. Finger licking good!

Captain sleep all the way. Seasick-ing.

Not long after we finished our sashimi.
Is time for us to find the Sailfish.
When Paul & Ben is doing some squid jigging, suddenly the Daiwa Seagate 4500 next to Ben get a heavy pulled from the sea. A sailfish jump out from the sea, and it hooked up by our livebait. Ben manage to get the 1st sailfish among us.
After about 20 minutes of fight, we manage to landed it for photographs.
Everyone is afraid that this is the only sailfish we can get. So everyone is line up for photos.

After photo session, we release the fish back to his freedom.
Always practise catch & release.

After we've done with the 1st sailfish, David is hook up by the 2nd sailfish while he still releasing the line to swim the livebait.
But unfortunately David unable to landed the sailfish for photos because the fish broke the leader line and ran away. But still thanks for the fight.

The 3rd sailfish belongs to Vincent, this is also the biggest sailfish that we've caught. This big guy almost taking the 70% of Daiwa Seagate line unstoppable.

But thank god that the fish stuck itself on a rope, so Uncle Chan manage to locate it, and Vin tried his hard to pulled it back.
Largest sailfish caught by Vincent.
Victory by Chatt Anglers.

After released the sailfish that caught by Vincent, we start again for sailfishing. But it takes sometimes for the next sailfish to eat our bait.
Paul is the last one who joined Chatt Anglers, he decided to fight the sailfish last. Fish on at the last 5 minutes before we leave.

Captain is the left over who didn't fight with the sailfish during this trip.
As he said, he just wanted a picture with the fish, he already fight it on his previous trip, but unable to took a photo with it.
Every sailfish we've caught are successful Catch & Release!
With this 4th sailfish caught by Paul ended our first day of fishing.
Everyone is over exciting and happy of course tired.
Our sailfish dream is completed!

Fishing Day 2
21/8/2012

Everyone snoring from night till morning due to the tiredness.
Day 2 Uncle Chan bring us to Pulau Berhala, which is very famous with green eyed squid & light jigging.
Everyday we waken up by this rooster.
Kampung style.

Scenery of Pulau Berhala:
Looking at the island and think : "Why ar? Why no fish 1?"

Paul's very own fishing technic. "Sleep jigging"
End up with no fish, so we decided to go for squids.

We actually tried to get some sailfish, but unfortunately that's too much of barracuda's ate all our live bait in this spot. And the sailfish is not that active today compare with yesterday.

So, that's how our day 2 end up with.
The result is a big comparison with day 1 & day 2.
But never mind, Chatt Anglers always will find our laughter and fun if that's fish or without fish.
Guess what we played this time?

Beautiful Scenery:
With this, come to the end of our fishing day.

Leaving Day
22/8/2012

Paul woke up at 5am in the morning to do his 'big business', And he found this in our toilet.
We cut some squids as our dinner last night. This is the left over squid pieces...

Captain is awake to distribute the squid for us.
Look at the comparison size of the those squids. Huge right?

Leaving soon:
David, what are you doing there?
Kampung Boys is leaving~

Before we leave, we went for some photo session at Pekan Museum.
I wonder is this the aircraft that lost its engine? LOL~

With that Chatt Anglers is singing off from Pekan.
How we gonna settled with those squids?
